*** COMES ON 180G VINYL *** It's been eight years since MICHAEL MAYER released his debut album "Touch", but one certainly couldn't consider him lazy, what with a tightly packed schedule of DJ gigs and umpteen remixes. All the more reason that Kompakt is pleased to announce the sophomore album MANTASY, a long-awaited, indispensable update of Michael Mayer's production sound and an essential release for the label in 2012. One tends to think that it's relatively easy: you make some sounds, you launch a label, you release some records… ultimately, electronic music is known for its short chain of command. Accordingly, "Touch" was created in just a few weeks, "and frankly, you can hear that", says Michael Mayer: "MANTASY is my second solo album, but for me it's really the first one". Indeed, the masterful sequencing and high production value bear witness to an artist in full control of his medium. You may think of the release as a "DJ album", not so much describing an album for DJs, but rather one from a DJ: "I really can't hide that", explains the musician, "MANTASY clearly reflects the gazillions of sounds I'm listening to in private, especially my love for soundtracks or soundtrack-like music." The album's title refers to the escapist momentum of a cinematic journey into the unknown, a tribute to history's great explorers, "to characters obsessed with an idea, to totally wrong conceptions of the world and faulty sea charts, to inconceivable exertions, all that lunacy", but also an intimate trip to the core of the Kompakt sound itself, whose main ambassador has always been Michael Mayer. Fittingly, the voyage starts with the panoramic "Sully", a flawless ambient study that opens the gateway to the world of MANTASY, which – hardly definable, but always palpable – relates to a romantic spirit of adventure, curiosity and nostalgia, yet far less concerned with the past than with the future. A case in point is "Lamusetwa", a track where memories and dreams collide in a most satisfying manner: "That's the name of one of my earliest favourite songs, which I can sing to this day, but never found again", says Mayer, "actually it's called ‚L'amour, c'est toi', but when you're 2 or 3 years old, you just sing ‚Lamusetwa' without understanding the words". The minimal funk of "Wrong Lap" and the Italo Disco reminiscences of title track "Mantasy" follow suit: the dance machine is fired up, the sky rips open, epic synthesizers roam the landscape driven by precision beats and hypodermic basslines lure the inner cinema back onto the floor. Then "Roses" finds its broken glamour in the dusk of the club, sporting a gloomy beauty only reinforced by the well-lit detour into "Baumhaus". "Rudi Was A Punk" tightens things up and rides the airwaves with a lead foot, followed by "Voigt Kampff Test", a Science Fiction thriller disguised as a dance track, and then an adrenalin-fuelled "Neue Furche" ("New Groove") transfers both the name and the sound of Nu Groove, one of Michael Mayer's all-time favourite labels, into a new idiom. Eventually, MANTASY's last track "Good Times" waltzes in, sung by WHOMADEWHO's man of a thousand voices Jeppe Kjellberg. It's an ode to nightlife utopia, to hands thrown in the air and the feeling of belonging, when you know that this is the place, the sound, the crowd you want to be with. "Movies without a happy end are dumb", clarifies Mayer, "so switch off your smartphones and get on board!"

Review:
The follow up to 2004's Touch sees Kompakt boss Michael Mayer embrace a wide range of styles without losing his melodic touch. Yet despite this, Mayer's fondness for irresistible hooks and melodies is audible on the ambient opener "Sully", and "Lamusetwa", whose chopped up break beats combine sensuous strings and spy theme synths. Elsewhere though, Mayer tries his hand at new wave - on the storming rhythms of "Rudi was a Punk" - and visceral club techno - "Neue Furche". However, his pop techno past can't escape him as the infectious "Good Times", which features the vocal "let's just have a good time", demonstrates.

Leftroom's breeding ground for new talent, Left'd, serves up another forward thinking split EP from some promising house talents. Heavily tipped Mexican duo Balcazar & Sordo kick off the EP with the disco tinged house grooves of 'Steady Road'. Living up to its name the calculated, rock solid production boasts class from start to finish. 'Hey You' sees Balcazar & Sordo team up with Newbie Nerdz and explore a slice of low slung future funk complete with a full bodied bottom end , anthemic synth line and pitch affected vocals samples that narrate a tripped out story. Taking charge of the second half of the EP the ever exciting Jack Riley showcases his emotive, melodic house sound with 'Pscychology' and 'In Your Mind'. BJ 05 Very... Various from: Exploited Germany Records

VARIOUS – BLACK JUKEBOX 05

Artist: James Silk, Patryk Molinari, Andre Crom, Darabi
Title: VARIOUS - BLACK JUKEBOX 05
Format: Only Digital
Cat: BJ 05
Released: 1 October, 2012
Shir Khan & Exploited reveal the fifth chapter of their infamous Black Jukebox series featuring James Silk, Patryk Molinari, Andre Crom and Darabi. Seems to be going from strength to strength this project, traversing the wide spectrum of ‘dancefloor’ music. This particular jaunt sees the crew concentrate on fresh new organic house music. James Silk’s “Can’t Wait” reminds of Daniel Wang without the grit or looseness. Its more mechanical, but the sound palette is intriguing, the hooks catchy but not obvious and the drums extremely well programmed and mixed. Slowly a well known boogie loop gets filtered into the blend and we’ll be seeing extreme jubilation on the floor when this drops. Patryk Molinari’s “No Dilemma” is loopy and almost slo-mo, but at a mid-tempo house speed, meaning your gonna see the more house orientated DJs making use of this one. It reeks of soul and sunshine though, with an infectious guitar lick coupled with heavy piano chords and a sublime female vocal chorus. Andre Crom takes a hugely recognized disco / rap bassline and speeds it up to a driving house beat, adds some emotive piano meanderings and rolls out a peaktime house belter of the highest order. Finally Darabi keeps things in-vogue by bringing us a boogie-inspired cut with thick chunky snares, a huge bassline and a gentle, west coast sway to proceedings. Radiant pads and a catch vocal refrain enveloping in warm Atlantic sunshine. With records like this it’s no wonder the Black Jukebox series and the Exploited label are fast becoming buy-on-sight and quick to disappear. Recommended!

BIS 004 Very... Amazing news from: Beats In Space Records

LAUER - MACSAT RING DOWN 12" & digital

CAT #: BIS004

Release date: September 25th, 2012

12"
Side A (45 RPM) - Lauer - Macsat Ring Down (8:40)
Side B (45 RPM) - Lauer - Macsat Ring Down (Lee Douglas Remix) (9:21)

Digital
1. Lauer - Macsat Ring Down (8:40)
2. Lauer - Macsat Ring Down (Lee Douglas Remix) (9:21)
3. Lauer - Mascat Ring Down (The Backwoods Remix) (6:43)

Fresh from the release of Phillips, his debut solo album for Running BackLauer, one half of Arto Mwambe, releases the Macsat Ring Down 12” for Beats In Space Records.

Like the satellite that it cites, Lauer’s “Macsat Ring Down” follows an elliptic pattern fit for infinite play on any space floor. On “Mascat”, analog space junk flies in and out of an orbital framework built upon nearly nine minutes of bubbling bass and peripheral percussion. Space boogie at its finest.

An anti-gravity exercise in repetition, Lee Douglas remixes "Macsat" for the flipside. Reaching a zen state through mantra-like looping that would make Steve Reich proud, Douglas reworks Lauer’s sounds from a delicate and pensive place to a muscular and propulsive groove. Most if not all of the synthesized glitter from the original is eventually forgone in favor of blasted percussion and an unrelenting bassline.

The digital bonus remix by The Backwoods - aka DJ Kent, one half of Tokyo’s Force of Nature - floats “Macsat” back to earth. The soulful piano that backbones the track conjures sunrises off the shores of Orion and a galactic hangover from all the space juicin’. The Backwoods brings some brawn to the original arrangement and allows alien interception by way of a mangled but melodic celestial sound choir.

Each 12" from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. BIS004 12" features artwork by Kensei Yabuno, whose mutant life form illustrations lurk in corners all over the design universe. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on September 25th, 2012 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available October 2nd, 2012 from the drab internet universe.

LUV 005 Very... Big EP from Luv Shack Records

My Very... First Unique Track what i want to share with world is:

Lee Stevens & Simonlebon - Deep Inside

"Deep Inside", with the brilliantly named Simonlebon, recalls classic US deep house of old - all analogue percussion and booming 909 boss - written by: juno.co.uk

It's my favorite track from very big LUV 005 EP which you can find in LP format on juno.co.uk or digital:

About EP:

LUV005 already and no doubt another classy four tracker that will top a few sales charts in the coming weeks and months. It's been a wonderful summer for the Luv Shack crew with every release bettering the last. The response and reaction to the new label has been astounding and beyond a pleasant surprise. With intelligent dance music such as this, it really shouldn't be such a surprise, but in a world of mass mediocre music, it does happen more often than not, that the good stuff doesn't always find its way. The guys though have found a place in a lot of hearts and quite a few tasty DJ sets and record boxes with four very consistent releases. So, here we go with what is yet another worthy addition to any half decent DJ's repertoire me thinks.

And it is Lee Stevens who teams up with local friends to deliver a very crafted set of aural niceness for your distinguished pleasure. First up, collaborating with LeSale on LuvSick a soulful and later 80's boogie joint reminiscent of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Keeping it simple and letting the groove do the work, this track will slide into your Disco set, nu or old, like a beautiful breeze.

Track two on the A side is Lee teaming up with label companion Jakobin on Find a Girl. Deeper, evangelical, actually quite ethereal, but with a proper wobbly basslines and some serious stomp on the kick drum. Like the drummer has one of those military boots on. Deep, deep celestial house in which you better turn the lights off in the club (or else!)

The deepness continues on the flip side with the first track Deep Inside featuring Simonlebon. Spacey and cosmic, bass and synthesizer heavy, but with the quality of weightlessness and a soft delicacy. It's a little treasure of a track that will find some broad appeal, especially when you need to break up a "too banging" set. Think of "Equilibrium" and you know what I mean (hopefully?)

Finally, B-2 (and it is by no means the weakest link on this EP) is Domino in association with Lee on Be Yourself. Funky and flavoursome with bright young vocals and keys. Again, as with all Luv Shack outings, you get this effortless and sexy settled groove, basslines that softly shake the rump, and you always get simple sensual synthesizer action. The sexy track on the EP!

Quality mastering as always by the magician that is Patrick Pulsinger. Yeah, it's another high calibre EP from Luv Shack. Enjoy!
